Most Home Recording Studios these days will use Windows based PC’s for their recording computer or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) - conversely, most professional recording studio’s will use Macs. Ideally you should dedicate a PC to the recording process but means that you will probably need two PC’s, one for recording and one for all the other stuff you need to do, and not many of us can afford such luxuries.
If you share your computer with other applications like email, Internet browsing, word processing, virus protection and so on, you can, and almost certainly will, get some nasty interference between these applications and your DAW software. This can result in frequent catastrophic crashes. I’m not at all sure why this happens although I have spent many hours trying to figure it out.
I have, however, developed a configuration that works really well. Find out more at www.homestudiozone.com
