What is ghostwriting? Hint: It is not done by ghosts. Ghostwriters work behind the scenes to create a finished book — either writing an original manuscript, or doing extensive research and rewriting and editing, or just shaping up a mass of notes and ideas — with another author, often a famous person. Usually the ghostwriting specialist is not credited as the author, or may merely be acknowledged as an “as told to” person. Ghostwriting is an exacting and honorable science.
